In 1993, I under went major surgery which required a significant amount of anesthetics. The anesthetics caused my urinary functions to shut-down causing urinary problems including burning, urgency, rectal pain, muscle spasms, which felt like a ball crammed into my rectum, aching and burning not only in the bladder, but also my groin, back and thighs. The symptoms started slowly, and grew worse over a ten year period. During those ten years I went to at least five or six different urologists and had multiple tests and procedures which caused even greater pain. Finally, I went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where after seven days of more extensive tests, they diagnosed my medical condition to be "Pelvic Floor Myalgia", also known as chronic pelvic pain syndromes (CPPS). The Mayo Clinic correctly diagnosed my condition but did not have a good medical solution to solve the problem. Pelvic floor pain is not only a physical challenge to the pelvic area of the body but also the mind and spiritual aspects of the body. I did not understand or appreciate any of this until I was introduced to Dr. Matt Taylor. NO ONE really knows how badly and how debilitating pelvic pain can be unless they have lived with it. Nobody! In 2006, after suffering with Pelvic pain for thirteen years, I approached my internist once again and explained to him my continuing debilitating pelvic pain, at which time he asked, "How can I possibly help you?" I responded, "Can you refer me to a good pain clinic?" He said he knew of a doctor who had recently moved from Indiana who had experience with pelvic pain symptoms. I met with the pain specialist who confirmed my pelvic pain condition. The specialist in turn referred me to Dr. Matthew Taylor in Scottsdale, Arizona who had recently moved his practice from Galena, Illinois. Who says there is no God looking after us? Dr. Matt Taylor examined me and immediately diagnosed the cause of my Pelvic Floor Pain condition and set out to cure it. I advised Dr. Taylor that I had to be healed with in four months so I could go on a 275 mile Dory boat trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon with my son and grand daughter, a trip that would constantly pound my body. His response was, "well then, we better get started and fix it!" And fix it he did! In the four month period leading up to the Dory adventure, he worked to free my body of the pelvic pain and retrain my mind to over come and alleviate the pelvic pain. Dr. Taylor not only performed physical therapy procedures to alleviate the pain but he taught me how to do the procedures as well so I could manage the pain in the future. THE RESULTS: I not only went on the Dory Trip and was pain free, but I now have the ability to proactively manage the pain to prevent flair-ups of the pelvic pain. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is to be free of pelvic pain, but I can tell you how thankful I am to Dr. Matt Taylor for his expert help in freeing me of the pain. Thanks Matt!
